Autofill in Chrome

Autofill in Chome can cause a lot of problems with processing orders via a POS system running on web based software.  The is not an issue isolated to WineWeb! This is a browser issue specific to Google Chrome.  Obviously this will require some maintenance of your browser settings.  For people with little knowledge of this, this article is for you.

 

If your autofill settings are not managed in Chrome, your order data will get crossed, potentially resulting in duplicate data with credit card transactions.

 

Turn off Autofill

If you don’t want to see saved personal information every time you fill out a form, you can turn it off. This is the critical step!!!

  1. In the upper right corner of the browser window, click the Chrome menu.
  2. Click Settings > Show advanced settings.
  3. Under "Passwords and forms," uncheck Enable Autofill to fill out web forms in a single click. To turn Autofill back on, simply check the box again.

Note:  If you have password management software installed, you need to disable it.

 

Delete Autofill Info

You can delete info for individual form fields or delete all saved form info any time.

Clear all your Autofill entries:

  1. In the upper right corner of the browser window, click the Chrome menu.
  2. Click More tools > Clear browsing data.
  3. In the box that appears, check Autofill form data.
  4. In the dropdown menu Obliterate the following items from, choose how much information you want to delete:
  • The past hour
  • The past day
  • The past week
  • The last 4 weeks
  • The beginning of time will clear everything.
  1. Click clear browsing data.

 

Delete an Autofill entry

  1. In the upper right corner of the browser window, click the Chrome menu.
  2. Click Settings > Show advanced settings.
  3. Under "Passwords and forms," click Manage Autofill settings.
  4. In the box that appears, select the entry you'd like to delete from the list.
  5. At the end of the row, click X.

 

Delete saved text

If you find a certain piece of saved text while filling out a form, you can delete it on the page.

  1. Choose the text in the dropdown list using the arrows on your keyboard.
  2. Delete it:
  • Windows: Press Shift+Delete
  • Mac: Press Shift+fn+Delete
