Backup Procedures

Internal: SmartPOS ‐ Cash Register Express or Restaurant Pro Express (version 11 and higher):  From the main login menu click File>Database Maintenance>Backup Database. Supply your administrator password.  A window will display asking what you would like to call your database. Name the file a unique name, such as the date i.e. 091511. You can choose where you want to save the file. It will default to C:/Program Files/CRE.NET. You can periodically remove old backups to save disk space.

SmartClub:  From the main menu, click Utilities>Database and Paths. Click File on the upper left-hand side of the screen and choose Backup. This will make a copy of the existing database and will save automatically to the location of your database. Everyone’s location is different. It’s the database directory in Database and Paths.

PCCharge:  Select Utilities>Backup. A window will appear. Select Backup and another window will appear. Click the drop-down arrow to choose the location in which you wish to save the database. Give the database a unique name. Again, you can periodically remove old backups to save disk space.

External: SmartPOS ‐ Cash Register Express or Restaurant ProExpress (version 11 and higher): From the main login menu click File>Database Maintenance>Backup Database. Supply your administrator password.  A window will display asking what you would like to call your database. Name the file a unique name, such as the date i.e. 091511. Navigate to the external media in which you’d like to save the database. You can periodically remove old backups to save disk space.

SmartClub:  Your database name is on the bottom left-hand side of the main window. Find the location of your database in Utilities>Database and Paths. Your database location is the database directory. Click on Start and then My Computer. Navigate to the location give in Database and Paths and right click on your database i.e. WineWare.mdb and click Copy.   Then, navigate to the external media in which you’d like to save the file, right-click and choose Paste.  We suggest you copy the entire contents of the Club folder to save all of your custom reports as well.

PCCharge:  The database can be found in the Active Charge or PCCW folder either on C: or in C:/Program Files. Right click on pccw.mdb and choose Copy. Then, navigate to the external media in which you’d like to save the file, right-click and choose Paste. Compact & Repair: It is a good idea to compact and repair all of your databases on a frequent basis. A power outage or other events could affect the indexes in your database tables, which is a documented Microsoft issue for the Access/SQL databases. We highly recommend frequent backups and compacting and repairing your database. Each product describes this easy procedure in their respective User Guides.
