Modifying your Custom Keyboard buttons

 The Custom Keyboard is a great tool to help your cashier succeed in the tasting room. A functional keyboard will help your cashier create sales transactions quickly and accurately, greatly lowering transaction time. In this tutorial, you will learn, step-by-step, how to add 4 different types of keyboard buttons to your Custom Keyboard: Item, Department, Category, and Function buttons.

Accessing your custom keyboard configuration

  1. Open Store Operation Manager and log in

  2. Go to Database > Registers > Keyboards:



  3. Select the desired keyboard and click Properties:


Adding an Item button

This style of button will add the configured item to the sale upon press.

  1. Select Add:


  2. Select the Item style:


  3. Select the desired item, for this example we will use our Tasting Fee item:


  4. The following options will modify the look of the button:
    • Caption (1) will change the name displayed on the button
    • Color (2) will change its base color
    • Down color (3) will modify the color the button shows when pressed


Adding a Department button

This button style will present your cashier with a list of all items from the selected Department.

  1. Select Add:

  2. Select the Department style:


  3. Select the desired Department; in this example, we will use the Wine department:


  4. The following options will modify the look of the button:
    • Caption (1) will change the name displayed on the button
    • Color (2) will change the base color of the button
    • Down Color (3) will modify the color the button shows when pressed


Adding a Category button

This button style will present your cashier with a list of all items from the selected Category.

  1. Select Add:


  2. Select the Category style:


  3. Select your desired Category; in this example, we will use our Sandwiches category:


  4. The following options will modify the look of the button:
    • Caption (1) will change the name displayed on the button
    • Color (2) will change the base color of the button
    • Down Color (3) will modify the color the button shows when pressed

Adding a Function button

This button style provides a way to add the cashier functions from your built-in function row on the POS to your Touchscreen keyboard.

  1. Select Add:


  2. Select the Function style:


  3. Select the desired Function; in this example, we will be selecting the Open / Close function:


  4. The following options will modify the look of the button:
    • Caption (1) will change the name displayed on the button
    • Color (2) will change the base color of the button
    • Down Color (3) will modify the color the button shows when pressed

Configuring your register to use the custom keyboard

Once you have finished creating your custom keyboard, you will need to assign it to the register you would like to use it on. You can use the same keyboard for every register, or create a custom keyboard for each register.

  1. Go to Database > Registers > Register List:


  2. Select the desired Register:


  3. Go to Touch Screen tab and assign the keyboard [If the touch screen is not enabled, you will need to toggle (2) it on]:


  4. Select OK on your Register menu to save your changes:
