'Tis the Season to Spruce Up Your Website

Holiday shopping is in full swing, so now is a great time to update your website. The easier it is for shoppers to navigate your site, the more likely they'll become buyers!

To spruce up your website for the holidays, you can: 

  • Create new Store pages to highlight holiday offerings
  • Rearrange products to focus attention on holiday specials
  • Add Store pages to your site’s main menu
  • Link directly to Store pages by adding content to your home page

 

Create new Store pages 

Creating new Store pages is the best way to showcase your holiday products and specials in one place! You can also make these pages temporary, so they will only appear on your website for a specified period of time.

To create a new Store page, please follow these steps: 

1. Navigate to the Products section and select Product Categories. Click the 'Add Product Category' button. 

2. A blank Product Category will appear. Click the Pencil icon to edit the category.

3. Name the Category. This is the name that will appear to customers on your website. 

4. Add any Category Content you want displayed above the product images. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the Category Content tab.

5. In the Category Properties tab, add a Marketing URL to customize the category URL that is displayed to customers.

Tip: It is recommended the you remove any spaces in the Marketing URL.  Browsers will replace any spaces with an ampersand (&).

6. Make sure the category is Active.

7. Set a date that the Category page will become inactive and will no longer display on your website.

Note: This Category will be deactivated, but NOT deleted, on the set expiration date.

8. Click the 'Save' button in the Category Properties tab.

9. Returning to the Product Category list, you can change the order of the categories by dragging and dropping the appropriate icon. The categories will appear in the same order on your website.

10. Click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom of the page.

11. Now that you've created and arranged a special holiday category, you can add products into that category so the products are presented on your website.

Note: You can assign your products to a category using the Products > Edit Product > Categories tab.

10. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page.

 

Rearrange products 

By moving your holiday products to the top of the screen, you focus your customers' attention on holiday specials as well as increasing sales and visibility for the products you want.

To rearrange your products within a category, please follow these steps: 

1. Navigate to the Products section and select Arrange/Reorder Products.

2. Click the Pencil icon for the category you’d like to edit.

3. You can change the order of the products by dragging and dropping the appropriate icon. The products will appear in the same order on your website.

4. Click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom of the screen.

Add Store pages to the Main Menu

Adding a Store page to your site's main menu makes it easier for customers to navigate to your holiday products. 

To add a page on your site's main menu, you will need create both a Content Page and a Product Category. Please follow these steps: 

Add a Content Page

1. Navigate to the Site Editor and then select Pages. Click the 'Add Page' button.  

2. A blank page will appear. Click the Pencil icon to edit that page.

3. Navigate to the Page Properties tab and enter a Page Title. This is the name that will appear to customers on your website in the main menu. 

4. Make sure the Main Menu option is set to 'Display on Main Menu'. 

5. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the Page Properties tab.

6. This page will now appear in the Main Menu on your website.

 

Add a Product Category

1. Navigate to the Products section and select Product Categories. Click the 'Add Product Category' button. 

2. A blank Product Category will appear. Click the Pencil icon to edit the category.

3. Name the Category the same as your Content Page to avoid future confusion. 

4. Navigate to the Category Properties tab. 

5. Set the Private Category toggle to "YES."

Note: Making a Category private only removes it from the Store navigation drop-down menu. This private category is still accessible online with a direct link.

 

6. Click the 'Save' button in the Category Properties tab.

7. In order to link both pages and redirect the content page, you will need to gather the product category URL. Click the 'View Category' button a the top of the page. 

8. Once your website opens the correct category page, copy the category URL beginning with “storeproducts". Verify that you've copied the entire CategoryID.

9. Navigate back to the Site Editor and edit the appropriate Page (ex. Holiday Offerings). Scroll down and click the Page Properties tab. 

10. In the Page Redirect field, paste the category URL beginning with “storeproducts".

11. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the screen.

Link directly to your Home page

Linking directly to your Home page provides a no-hassle way for your customers to view your favorite products!

To link a Store page directly to content on your Home page, please follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Site Editor and then select the Pencil Icon for your Home page.  

2. In the Page Content tab, you can enter and style the text you want to appear on your website's Home page.

3. Once you've entered your text, select the text that will be turned into a link. 

4. In the toolbar, click the Link icon.

5. In the Insert Link pop-up, enter the appropriate URL for the product category. 

6. Click the 'OK' button.

7. Click the 'Save' button. 

Website Example: The "Holiday Gift Sets" text on the front page will link directly to the Store page when a customer clicks on the link.
