As the holidays are getting closer, more customers are browsing your website. Whether they're looking for gifts or something to serve during the festivities, your wines need to catch their attention! This webinar reviews three different ways you can make your wines (and other products) more appealing and ready for the holiday rush! You will learn how to:
- Create new products categories to promote holiday offerings
- Attract more shoppers by featuring holiday gift sets
- Manage events with ease using our non-wine product setup
Create New Product Categories
Creating product categories with online store pages is the best way to showcase your holiday products and specials in one place! You can also make these pages temporary, so they will only appear on your website for a specified period of time.
To create a new product category page, please follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the Products module and select Product Categories. Click the 'Add Product Category' button.
2. A blank Product Category will appear. Click the Pencil icon to edit the category.
3. Name the Category. This is the name that will appear to customers on your website.
4. Add any Category Content you want displayed above the product images. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the Category Content tab.
Website Example: Active Category Content
5. In the Category Properties tab, add a Marketing URL to customize the category URL that is displayed to customers.
Tip: It is recommended the you remove any spaces in the Marketing URL. Browsers will replace any spaces with an ampersand (&).
6. Make sure the Category is Active.
7. Set a date that the Category page will become inactive and will no longer display on your website.
Note: This Category will be deactivated, but NOT deleted, on the set expiration date.
8. Click the 'Save' button in the Category Properties tab.
9. Returning to the Product Category list, you can change the order of the categories by dragging and dropping the appropriate icon. The categories will appear in the same order on your website.
Note: Add sub-categories by choosing the parent category before clicking the Add Product Category button.
10. Click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom of the page.
Website Example: Active product categories will appear in the Main Menu and Product Category pages.
11. Now that you've created and arranged a special holiday category, you can add products into that category so the products are presented on your website.
Note: You can assign your products to a category using the Products > Edit Product > Categories tab.
10. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page.

Shipping Considerations for Holiday Traffic
- Remember there is more shipping traffic around the holidays, so warn your customers if you expect delays.
- Shipping rates will still be determined by the bottle sizes/weights of products contained in the kit.
- Make sure all new kits are set up and updated if you use ShipCompliant
- If you are using ShipCompliant, kits can be sent as a single SKU or broken out into individual SKUs.
Make Your Events Merry and Bright
Another way to engage with your audience is hosting holiday tastings or dinners that draw potential customers in. Everyone loves a way to celebrate the season with friends and family!
You can start selling event tickets as non-wine products, which allows you to choose multiple dates and different prices without having to manage different products and constantly switch screens.
To organize tickets for a holiday wine tasting, please follow these steps:
1. After expanding the Products section, click the 'Add a Product' button.
2. Select 'First Party Product' as the Product Type and add a Product Name.
3. In the product’s General tab, activate your event so it displays on your website, and click the 'Add a Price' button. A different SKU can be created for each date of the event and can have a different price.
4. After you click "Add a Price," enter the distinct SKUs and prices for each individual date.
Tip: Include your event date in the Unit Description so it will be displayed as an option for your customers on your website.
5. Upload a festive image for your event and click the 'Save' button.
6. Assign the product to a seasonal category for events and click the 'Save' button.
7. Update your inventory to reflect the availability for each event/product.
8. On your website, a customer can choose their desired date and the price will change accordingly.
Website Example 1: Event on December 7 for $100
Website Example 2: Event on December 21 for $200
The chosen date will be displayed at checkout.
